Licensing and patent work at the Academy is carried out in accordance with the norms of Ukrainian legislation, namely: the Constitution of Ukraine, Laws of Ukraine “On Education”, “On Protection of Rights to Inventions and Useful Models”, “On Protection of Rights to Industrial Designs”, “On Protection of rights to signs for goods and services” and other regulatory and by-laws on issues of licensing and patent work. Absolutely all works performed within the scope of scientific or scientific and technical research on the basis of the Academy, related to intellectual property issues, are performed in compliance with the rules of confidentiality. The Academy is the owner of intellectual property rights if the works were published under the auspices and on the basis of the Academy.

The main tasks of licensing and patent work at APEMH “UMA” are to ensure such work and guarantees at a high competitive level and to analyze the state of the work being performed and improve research technologies at the Academy, with the provision of proposals and practical recommendations for its improvement.

The main functional aspects of license and patent work at APEMH “UMA” should include:

– control and support of developers of scientific and technical proposals;

– methodical assistance when the authors draw up the description of the invention and other documents necessary for submitting an application for an invention;

– control over the fulfillment of all requirements of the law regarding the prepared materials;

– acceptance of applications for inventions, their transfer to professional expertise and their accounting;

– control over the payment of the State patent, namely special fees for the protection of rights to inventions;

– advising each researcher on patent registration and further activities in the field of invention;

– carrying out methodical work and assistance to executors to ensure, on the basis of patent and information research, patent transparency of developed objects of science, technology and individual technologies;

– monitoring of contracts on registration of transfer of technologies;

– preparation of draft contracts on the transfer of technologies. Employees and specialists of the Academy are responsible for the timely and high-quality performance of the licensing and patent work assigned to them. They comply with the requirements of the legislation and the compliance of the National Standards of Ukraine developments.
